![]() All you have to do is adjust the focus ring on your lens. While I can’t speak for Nikon, Canon has a built in feature with almost all their cameras that allows you to make manual focus adjustments to your image even while the camera is in auto focus mode. That’s right, with BBF you never have to take your camera off auto focus again! With BBF, the only time your camera will focus automatically is when you tell it to by hitting the AF-ON focus button. This means that at any time, you can switch between a focus/recompose/shoot style of photography (portraits and landscapes) and continuous subject tracking (sports & wildlife) without having to change camera switches or menu settings.” Doing so allows you to set the camera to continuous-servo AF (AF-C) mode permanently, while still being able to get the benefit of focus-lock like you do in single-servo (AF-S) mode. “The idea behind setting the AF-On button to be the only way to activate your Nikon’s autofocus system is simple. My question: Is there any way to do this on a NEX camera (or Sony DSLR)? I find this mode very useful on my 7D. For more info about this mode, see the two reference clips shown below. Both Canon and Nikon DSLRs offer this “AF-ON” button “option”. The idea is to focus only when you need to – not every time you push the shutter release. ![]() Back Button Focus - I prefer to call this Focus upon Demand. ![]()
